Chilcotin Road Deactivations

The Forest Service is moving to deactivate more roads in the Spruce Lake area, which will shut down trails like the Paradise Creek-Castle Pass-Tyaughton Creek loop.  In typical fashion the public has been given a whole week to comment.  Below is the Ministry’s Information Bulletin:

You only have until May 31 to comment!

The Province has been moving to close access to the backcountry across the board.  These closures may make sense from the limited perspective of the Forest Ministry – hey, no logging going on, close the road – but they can have wide ranging effects on other sectors of society, namely individual backcountry users and commercial backcountry operators.  Make your voice heard!

Pete, could you copy and paste the link to the maps of the area on your NSMB thread? The pictures doesn’t allow the link to be clicked. Thanks!

    Hi Pete,

Thanks for the heads up. We have sent a lengthy response to Shane Stockwell to request that this road deactivation not proceed. We will be notifying people in the Goldbridge area about this as well. This deactivation will result in a few vital bridges being taken out which will make access impossible to certain popular trails. I encourage all to voice their opinion.

I sent a letter to Shane Stockwell on behalf of
WORCA asking the MOF to reconsider deactivation of Mud/Paradise/Tyaughton FSR. Hopefully our fifteen hundred member group has some clout.
